Tammy Burtness oversees both the financial and physical operations of approximately 5,500 apartment homes and 550,000 sq. feet of commercial space located in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas and Oklahoma. Ms. Burtness has over 25 years of experience in the affordable housing industry and is proud to say she gained all of her experience by working at MetroPlains Management. Ms. Burtness is also an owner of MetroPlains Building Services, LLC, a construction company located in North Dakota specializing in the rehabilitation of apartment communities.
Ms. Burtness is a Certified Property Manager (CPM) as designated by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and holds the STAR and C3P designations by Spectrum as well as the NALP (National Apartment Leasing Professional) designation through the National Apartment Association. Ms. Burtness is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Minnesota and North Dakota. Ms. Burtness is the past President of the Lake Region Apartment Association and a past Board Member of the North Dakota Apartment Association. Ms. Burtness is a Board Member of the Rocky Affordable Housing Management Association (AHMA). Ms. Burtness has been the past Committee Chair on the Best Practices and Education committee for the National office of Council of Affordable Rural Housing (CARH), as well as a past Board Member of this organization. Currently, Ms. Burtness serves on the Executive Board of the National CARH as the Vice President.
Senior Vice President/ Commercial Real Estate Manager
Michael Koch has been with MetroPlains Management, LLC. for the past 30 years. Mike is the Commercial Real Estate Manager for the company's commercial properties. He began his career when there were only 6 employees in the company. Mike is experienced in commercial and multi-family housing residential property management and real estate investments. He is a licensed real estate agent in Minnesota and North Dakota. He also is active in the management and placement of insurance coverage for MetroPlains. He has a Bachelor of Arts and Master's in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN.
Chief Financial Officer
Tami Hand, Chief Financial Officer of MetroPlains Management, LLC holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Minnesota State University and is a licensed CPA. She began her career working as a controller with a real estate company in Northern Michigan. After leaving Michigan and returning home to Minnesota, she practiced public accounting for almost eight years in the areas of tax, audit, accounting system analysis, software implementation and consultation with firms whom specialized in the areas of LIHTC, affordable housing, small business accounting management and implementation. In 1998, she left public accounting to work for the property management and development companies of MetroPlains. Her main responsibilities are consultation and management in areas of internal controls, human resources, financial, operational and technology management, planning and implementation.
Vice President Of Accounting
Corey Bartlett joined the MetroPlains Management team in 2000 as an accounting clerk and in 2010 joined the board as Assistant Vice President. Currently Corey serves as the Vice President of Accounting and also facilitates the planning and implementation of the technology goals for MetroPlains Management. Corey has vast experience in all aspects of property management accounting from routine bookkeeping services to new development accounting for both residential and commercial real estate developments. Corey is also the Vice President of MetroPlains Building Services, LLC. His role is to oversee all aspects of the business including financial, operational and accounting. Corey studied business administration at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND.
Vice President Of Compliance
Linda also holds the title, Director of Compliance, for MetroPlains Management, LLC. She has been in the property management field for 29 years. Her specialty is compliance for affordable housing. Linda is a graduate of Lake Region Community College and has extensive experience in government subsidized housing programs and the Housing Tax Credit (HTC) compliance monitoring. Ms Risinger has obtained the following designation in the Property Management Field: Certified Credit Compliance Professional, FMHA 515 Shining S.T.A.R, Section 8 Certified and NALP (National Apartment Leasing Professional).
Vice President/ Minnesota Regional Manager
As the director of regional operations for the State of Minnesota, Theresa’s responsibilities include working with owner’s, federal, state and local officials, and employees to be sure that developments are performing in a manor most beneficial to owners and the residents we serve. She has worked in the industry since 1998, and has experience in LIHTC, project based subsidized program, any number of different supportive, long-term homeless or transitional housing programs, Rural Development 515 projects, HOME, MARIF, TIF and bonds. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Metropolitan State University.
Assistant Vice President
Patty is a licensed CPA and also a licensed real estate agent in North Dakota. She joined MetroPlains Management in 1998. Her responsibilities include property management and financial management of the North Dakota portfolio. Patty graduated from Minot State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Mathematics, and from the University of Phoenix with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Prior to joining MetroPlains Management, Ms. Jabs worked for a real estate law firm and practiced public accounting.
